It is mid-summer and the time of year when the heat and long days are starting to make us feel sluggish and slow. Do you feel like your workouts are lagging and you could use an energy booster? You are not alone. But you can do some easy tricks to get your energy back!  

Obviously, exercise helps. This has been proven time and again. Also, we all know that sleeping for the right amount of time, and at the right times, will also help improve your energy level.

Of course, you will also want to make sure you are eating right. Whether it is clean eating or just a healthy diet, be focused on the right kinds of food. Stay away from heavy, fried, fatty foods and certainly avoid processed sugars and carbs.

But most of us already know this and still struggle with maintaining the energy level we want and need to get everything done we have to do. If you are eating healthy, sleeping right, and exercising yet still not finding the boost you want, we have some other thoughts for you.

Here are some (secret) tips on how to get energized:

  1. Get outside.

Yes, it might be hot. But the sun’s rays, and the Vitamin D they offer, have wonderful health benefits. Not only that, but light is energizing (there is a reason we turn off the lights to sleep). A few minutes outside can re-energize you for the rest of your day.

  1. Organize and clear the clutter.

Nothing can bring you down faster than piles and piles of paperwork sitting on your desk, kitchen table, or bedside stand. Take a little bit of time to go through, put these papers away, and get your thoughts and to-do list organized. By taking an hour or two to do this, you will walk away feeling lighter and with a clearer head, leaving behind nothing but energy to tackle what you need to do.

  1. Listen to music.

 Music is therapeutic. Sometimes all you need is a strong beat and some well-loved lyrics to get you in the mood to move. By the way? Sing a long, too. Singing has been shown to increase your energy level.

 

  1. Stay away from caffeine.

  1. Move gently.
